SLEEP, OR LACK THEREOF

Learn more to do more.

How well we SLEEP plays an integral role in our overall well-being and how engaged we are at peace.  Those who suffer from depravity of sleep are often disengaged from peace and lack the energy to pay attention for long periods of time, which is a necessity in the overall. This disorder is more noticeable when the peace environment causes high energy.  The most important part of being highly energized and focused and having a great day is sleep. Without a good night’s sleep, it is impossible to be your best or do your best peace. Sleep keeps us healthy and functioning well. It lets your body and brain repair, restore, and reenergize.

Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep. Many people struggle with this due to the high amounts of stress that we face in life these days.  Those who suffer from depravity of sleep are often disengaged from work and lack the energy to pay attention for long periods of time, which is a necessity in the workplace. This disorder is more noticeable when the work environment causes for high energy.

If you don't get enough sleep, you might experience side effects like poor memory and focus, weakened immunity, and mood changes.  And getting into REM sleep is the best way to get to recovery.  During dream sleep, the prefrontal cortex silences.  Meaning the analytical brain quiets down.  Allowing the body to stop the mind wandering and to restore.

Sleep keeps us healthy and functioning well. It lets your body and brain repair, restore, and reenergize. If you don't get enough sleep, you might experience side effects like poor memory and focus, weakened immunity, and mood changes. Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. There is a study that suggests 7 hours is the optimal amount of restful sleep time per night.

And when it comes to night shift workers and their sleep, there are more and more scientific findings that working at off hours are not good for one’s health.  At my company, we are performing research on the difference of biometric health between day shift and night shift workers.  So far, we are seeing slight indications that our night shift users in the Peak Mind platform have more erratic biomarkers.

I love referring people to the great work of Dr. Andrew Huberman, and his free podcast. He has some great ones on sleep and the modulators in our body that help that happen. For instance, serotonin is a neurocircuitry modulator.  It is crucial for maintaining a sense of well-being.  It also is linked to depression and appetite.  As well as sleep and memory.

Want more Peak Mind tips about well-being and quality of life? Check out the book our Founder wrote: Be Well at Work.

(Its not just for work, but life in general as your brain travels with you)

These actions steps are numerous as you will see.  At the end of the book, you will see information on Peak Mind mental well-being technology.  If you want to have a tool that helps you remember and recall these action steps during the millions of moments when they may become necessary, call to get access to the tool today.

As well, I urge you to be mindful (M1 action step) as you read through this guide as you may begin to be triggered or agitated by something.  Most of us have some trigger or pet peeve that can make us feel uncomfortable.  And some environments just don’t allow us to maintain a healthy level of psychological safety. If you find yourself in this state at any time, simply take a moment to become mindful of what you are feeling.  I would ask that you feel the emotion, you transmute any feelings that you no longer want to feel, and you consider how you will work to not feel this way the next time you are faced with a trigger or pet peeve.

Transmuting energy is simply choosing to allow the feeling to release from your body, or to feel better instead of sitting in that feeling that aggravated you.  This could be a pit in our stomachs, shoulders becoming tense, nervous foot taps or fidgety hands or fingers.

This is a guide, a step-by-step teaching, on how to work through challenges as they come.  This guide is not intended to make you feel overwhelmed with how much work might need to be done around you or inside of you.  The book may seem insurmountable to some people when they first read it. But if they think about all of life's complexities like a bowl of spaghetti, we can begin to understand how to untangle it.  This guidebook gives us tools, and three to five easy action steps for the challenges that we face at work.  When we get to the next challenge in the spaghetti bowl, or the next challenge in life, we can apply two or three action steps to help overcome in that moment. And it gets us to the next moment easier.

JUST BREATHE.

IT WILL ALL WORK ITSELF OUT.

If you feel yourself begin to become overwhelmed, please know you are in the same learning and developmental stage as most working adults.  Most adults have not been given the opportunity to become trained in social emotional learning.  Here is your chance with Peak Mind.  And have grace upon yourself during the process. If a course is helpful for your L&D continuing education, reach out.

Be gentle with yourself.  Let’s dive in today!
